Alan StanfordWe are delighted this year to have Alan Stanford perform. Alan is Ireland's leading theatre expert on Wilde and Shakespeare. As principle director of Dublin's Gate Theatre he produced works, from among others, Pinter, Shaw, Noel Coward and Lady Windermere’s Fan, An Ideal Husband and The Importance of Being Earnest from Oscar Wilde. As an actor he has performed in Wilde's The Importance of being Earnest, Salome and A Woman of no Importance, works of Shaw and Beckett, as well was cast in the main roles in Shakepeare's King Lear and Othello. His film and television appearances include Educating Rita with Michael Caine, The Irish R.M., Taffin opposite Pierce Brosnan, The Treaty, The Hanging Gale, Moll Flanders opposite Brenda Fricker, Kidnapped with Armand Assante, The American for BBC TV, Animal Farm For Hallmark Films and most recently in the role of Pozzo in the film of Waiting for Godot. Alan is a founder of Second Age Theatre Company, and is a member of Arts Council of Ireland.
